As our termly theme is ‘places’ the children decided we should make our role play into a campsite. We discussed what a campsite needs and how the area should look. The children then helped to make trees and set the equipment up.
Looking for signs of creatures
The children have really enjoyed looking for any signs of little creatures around the school. They used magnifiers to see if they could spot any tracks, animal homes, feathers, leaves etc.
We read the story book the ‘The Snaggetty-Boggit’ then went out into our garden area to make our own snaggetty-boggits. We used clay and molded it onto a tree to make the face. Then we looked for things we could use to make features, like feathers, twigs and leaves. It was so much fun!
Here are some of our paintings of things we may see in the woods. Some of us painted woodland animals like, squirrels, foxes, hedgehogs and others painted fantastic creatures such as the Gruffalo and Snaggety-Boggits.
