Egyptian Day in Year 3. We began by creating and painting our own Egyptian jewellery. Some of us managed to get more paint on ourselves than on the jewellery – sorry about that…
After break we had a go at mummifying tomatoes. We scooped out the innards, whilst learning about how the Egyptian mummification process happened. Next we cleaned the tomato skin and packed it with natron (well our own mixture of salt and baking powder). Then we packed the tomato into a small bag and took it home. They will probably need a bit more salt adding and then leaving at the back of a cupboard for a few months. When you unpack them at Christmas, you will be left with the dried out skin of the mummified tomato.
After lunch, to cool down, we had an art workshop where we learned how to make a mummy jump out of a sarcophagus. We took those home to finish.
Finally after break, we held our chariot racing competition. It was a close run event, which caused lots of excitement.
