We arrived at Thurston around 1pm after a foggy bus journey. When we arrived, we met our instructors and were put into our activity groups and dormitory groups.
We spent a bit of time being shown around the centre and found out where the classroom, lounge, dining hall and locker rooms were.
After unpacking and arranging our luggage, we met with our instructors for a walk around the forest and grounds. It was a lovely afternoon and surprisingly warm for November! We had a chance to skim some stones in the lake and met a nearly 100 year old monkey puzzle tree.
After our short walk, we headed back to the centre for tea. On the menu tonight was fish fingers, chips and peas with cauliflower cheese. For desert we had sponge and custard.
We found out what our duties are going to be for the week and then headed over to the classroom to fill in our diaries.
We finished off the day with a game of torchlit hide and seek and some time in the barn playing games. It was really good fun!
